Tap into your inner engineer

We value every volunteers contribution, no matter how big or small. We have projects for everyone- both big and small. Whether it be working in the shop on our historic locomotives, steam equipment or working outdoors planting flowers and maintaining the grounds.

There is plenty to do! And you don't have to have worked for the railroad or have experience.  Our volunteers all have unique backgrounds. Many started with little to no experience in working on a railroad.  There are so many reasons that our volunteers extend themselves to our organizations.  Sometimes, it's a love of trains, others it's a passion for preserving history. In any case, they have all found a meaningful way to touch lives.  So if you would like the opportunity to enrich peoples lives, join us and you just might find that it's your life that has been enriched.

These are some suggestions for volunteer opportunities that you may not have thought of:

            Railroad Conductor

            Gift Shop attendant

            Locomotive Shop apprentice

Buildings and Grounds Maintenance / Improvement

            Sawmill Crew

As with most organizations, the opportunity for promotion is available with hard work and dedication. Many are leadership roles and operating actual steam equipment.
